Savannah Chrisley Recalls How She ‘Couldn’t Even Function’ During Parents’ Trial: ‘I Was Shocked’
Todd and Julie Chrisley received a guilty verdict in June 2022 and were initially sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison between them
Savannah Chrisley is shedding new light on the hours that followed her parents’ guilty verdict two years ago.
On the Sept. 3 episode of her podcast, Unlocked, Savannah, 27, recalled how she felt after her parents Todd and Julie Chrisley received a guilty verdict for bank fraud and tax evasion in June 2022.
“I didn’t cry the whole way home,” she told her friends who joined her for a round table on the episode. “I don’t even remember getting home.”
“When I got home, I literally walked in the door and collapsed,” she recalled, noting she “could not calm down” and eventually “took something to, like, calm me down.”
“I couldn’t even function,” she said and her friend Holly added that Savannah was “sobbing.”

Savannah and her friends then recalled the day of her parents’ sentencing, which occurred months later in November 2022. Todd, 55, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 16 months probation, while Julie, 51, was sentenced to seven years in prison and 16 months probation.
“I was shocked,” Savannah recalled. “Everyone was shocked because whenever — especially too with how the judge had acted the whole trial, and whenever you get that lengthy of a [sentence]… They just take you immediately. And so we were shocked when the judge said that she would give them until January to report.”
Savannah continued, “During the whole trial, like, nothing went in our favor, and [the judge] had really said some things that caused you to, like, take a step back and be like, ‘Woah, I can’t believe someone can respond this way.’ But then I looked at it and I was like, you know what? I am grateful that she gave us those 90 days to, like, have with each other until they leave [for jail], but that was really tough.”
The couple reported to prison on January 17, 2023, with Todd at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida while his wife Julie reported to the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky.
Julie has since appealed her sentencing due to insufficient evidence, and her appeal was granted by a judge in June. She is now due in court in Atlanta on Sept. 25 to receive a new sentence.
In a previous podcast episode, the Chrisley Knows Best alum admitted she “expect[s] the worst and anything else that is better than that is a win.”
Savannah also shared she’s been having dreams of her mom coming home, and she keeps waking up “disoriented.”
“I’m like, ‘Wait. What is happening?’ Because it feels so real. And I’m trying not to get my hopes up, because let’s face it, a lot of things within this legal battle have not gone our way,” she said on the Aug. 13 episode of Unlocked.
