Pentatonix’s Cover Of “Hallelujah” Is Chilling

Grammy-winning a capella group Pentatonix, is famous for dropping spine-chilling videos on YouTube out of nowhere. Their cover of Great Big World’s “Say Something” hit YouTube in early 2014, and immediately accrued 30 million views. Recently, the video has close to 755 million views.

One of our favorite numbers on the new album? The Pentatonix cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic tune, “Hallelujah.”

This song is beautifully written, but this may be the best cover of the iconic song we’ve ever heard. Like most of their videos, this music video looks as good as it sounds. Shot entirely in a beautiful, dusty desert landscape, all five group members are standing solemnly in a triangular formation as they deliver chilling vocal performances of the song.

The four main vocalists of the group took turns on this one, which worked out perfectly, considering that there are four verses to this classic song, each more beautiful than the next.

Together, dressed fabulously and staring piercingly into the camera, the group pulled together one of the most amazing a capella performances we’ve ever heard.

The album comprises 11 holiday tracks to help you bask in all of your Christmas joy, including Irving Berlin’s cozy classic “White Christmas,” Bing Crosby’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” and even 90s pop royalty NSYNC’s peppy tune “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.”

What do you think of this amazing cover of “Hallelujah”? Is this your favorite Pentatonix song to date?
