Angelina Jolie Brings Back the Opera Glove Trend at TIFF’s Without Blood Premiere: See Her Old Hollywood Look

Angelina Jolie continues her red carpet style streak at the Toronto International Film Festival with Opera Glove.
On Sunday, Sept. 8, the 49-year-old actress made her way to Canada for the world premiere of her latest project, Without Blood. Jolie, who directed the war drama, turned heads in a silk, black Dolce & Gabbana gown with ruching details along the bottom.
She accessorized the simple, but elegant look with a pair of elbow-length, opera-style silk gloves that exuded old school glam. The filmmaker parted her long blonde hair down the middle, and let her classic gown speak for itself by opting against wearing any jewels for the event.

Jolie was joined by her 20-year-old son Pax for the premiere. Pax, who is recovering from a July e-bike accident, wore a black suit and tie paired with dark shades on the red carpet. A scar was visible on his forehead, but he appeared to be in good spirits as he joined the audience in giving his mom and the film’s cast a standing ovation. (Pax also worked on the film in the assistant director department.)
Without Blood, which is described as a “parable-like tale of family, war and revenge,” stars Salma Hayek, Demián Bichir and Juan Minujín. The movie was filmed at Rome’s famed Cinecittà Studios.
Prior to TIFF, Jolie attended the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of her biographical drama Maria. She touched down in Italy on Tuesday, Aug. 27, wearing a khaki-colored belted trench coat over navy bottoms, dark sunglasses and black boots.
Hours before the Maria premiere, the Oscar winner arrived at the Hotel Excelsior looking like a Greek goddess in a brown silk Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello dress. She accessorized with a pair of tortoiseshell Saint Laurent sunglasses and silver drop earrings.

On the red carpet, Jolie stunned in a custom strapless beige Tamara Ralph gown with a fur stole covering the sleeves, romantic drapery down the silhouette and a pleated skirt hem. Her blonde hair was parted to the side and styled sleek and straight, while her red lipstick added a pop of color.
According to Vogue, the Cartier designer brooch Jolie wore actually belonged to Maria Callas, the iconic opera singer she portrays in the new biopic.
Per the outlet, many of the late singer’s brooches now live in the Cartier Collection, and Maria costume designer Massimo Cantini Parrini worked with the fashion house to obtain some of Callas’ pieces.
The brooch Jolie wore on the red carpet (she also wears it in the film) was a 1972 Rose Ouvrante in the shape of a flower that features diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. The jewelry also has a special mechanism that makes the flower petals open and close.
“I was also charmed at how it transformed from a closed flower that then blooms,” Jolie told Vogue. “I like to think it made her smile. The little secret in the piece.”
