Know what you’re buying. This picture below shows store-bought beef (on the right) and farm-raised beef (on the left). You can easily see the difference, but there’s more to it than just looks!
1. **Color difference:**
The store-bought beef is said to be lighter because it’s full of chemicals and preservatives, like propyl gallate, to keep it from going bad after being in the air for a long time.
2. **Unclear source:**
It’s difficult for you to know where the store beef comes from or how many cows are in it. Even if it has a “Product of the USA” label, it might include meat from different countries like Canada, Argentina, or Brazil. In addition, the meat is often mixed from many cows, not just one.
3. **Farm beef:**
The beef on the left is fresher, darker, and raised on a local farm. It’s more nutritious and tasty, and it comes from just one cow, not leftovers from several.
Buying from a local farm seems to be a better choice!
