In addition to introducing Ha as the love interest for Luke Thompson’s Benedict, Netflix’s Tudum also confirmed that rehearsals have begun for the upcoming season
Bridgerton Season 4: Benedict’s Love Interest Revealed
Sophie has officially made her debut in the Ton!
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, Bridgerton formally introduced actress Yerin Ha as the incoming love interest for season 4, which will focus on the family’s second-eldest brother, Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson.
In the clip posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ha, 29, looks chic as she explores a hanging rack of gowns before landing on a pair of silk gloves — a potential hint at what’s to come in the forthcoming installment of the Netflix hit series.
Fans then get their first look at Sophie as Ha turns to the camera with a smile and the clip concludes.
The post’s caption hinted at production on season 4 potentially beginning soon, as it said, “preparations for the next social season are almost underway.”
“We request a warm welcome to the newest member of the Ton…Presenting Yerin Ha as Sophie in Bridgerton Season 4!”
Ha, who was announced as the love interest for season 4 in August, told Netflix’s Tudum that she was drawn to Sophie because she “immediately has obstacles,” whether that be “this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
Tudum also confirmed that rehearsals have begun on season 4, and Thompson, 36, jokingly said that he’s “only stepped on Yerin’s toes once” in their dance rehearsals so far.
Ha and Thompson’s characters will meet at a masquerade ball held by the Bridgerton matriarch, Violet (Ruth Gemmell) after Sophie “disguises herself to attend,” despite not being a usual guest at high society events.
“As a victim of tragic events, Sophie has been forced to spend much of her life working for the most demanding employer in the ton. But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances,” reads a description of the character.

Season 4 will also introduce another change from Julia Quinn’s novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, as Sophie’s last name has been changed from Beckett to Baek to honor the actress’ Korean roots.
“To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering,” Ha said of the change. “It’s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold.”
Seasons 1-3 of Bridgerton, and its spinoff, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, are streaming on Netflix.
